Sorry about the crummy picture on this one, I don’t actually own the record but I though it would make a good addendum to the Knifed/Scientific Bong post post. This here is another Knifed split record, this time it’s a 7″ with the fairly well known (well to hardcore fans) queercore band Limp Wrist. They’re a band that have been around since 1998 and were well known instantly as they were made up of members of Los Crudos, Hail Mary, Devoid of Faith, and Kill the Man Who Questions. This was released, like the other Knifed record, on Mero’s Rejected Records. He mentioned in an interview (possibly the Left of The Dial one) that this was by far his best selling release with 1,700 sold before it went out of print. There are still a few copies left around if you look hard enough but they’re few and far between so here is the split in it’s entirety.
Knifed/Limp Wrist – Split 7″ [Rejected Records, 2003]
I’m afraid I have no good pictures of this LP at the moment as I’m uploading it to fill a request on Eirecore but sure here goes anyway.
Knifed were a (for want of a better tag) queercore hardcore band from Dublin that existed from about 2000-2005 (dates are prob way off) and released many records during their existance. Their most well known and best selling release was their split 7″ with the well known US queercore band Limp Wrist. The band had a defining lyrical styling with song titles like ‘My Cock, Your Arse’, ‘Wash Your Cock’ and the lyrics of ‘Get Off My Bandwagon’ making their point most succintly :
Think you’re PC?
Think your bi?
Never seen a cock in your mouth.
All this fake homo.
Turbonegro, you know.
Get off my bandwagon.
Think you’re fuckin’ queer?
Well suck my cock.
Get off my bandwagon.
Think you’re fucking queer?
Eat my ass
Knifed were one of the best hardcore bands there was in Dublin and their planned discography LP, which seems to be in the works according to some posts by the guitarist Gary on Eirecore, will be out soon possibly even 2009. Gary now plays in the great band Oak.
Scientific Bong were a trash/hardcore band from Dublin made up a bunch of smelly crusties who should have known better. They existed from 2001-2004 with two or three reunion gigs happening in 2005 & 2006. The main band was made up for Corm (Vocals), Donjo (Bass/Vocals), Damien (Guitar) and Eoin (Drums). There’s pretty much all you need to know about the Bong written here which is an interview on their myspace conducted by the Hardcore Times. After they finished Corm went on to play with Nuclear Death Terror and Damien with back to Easpa Measa and his other 5,000 bands.
Finally, on the split LP itself. This was released in an edition of 500 by Mero (singer in Knifed) on his Control Records imprint. Pressed to see through green vinyl, it looks pretty great. I’ve no idea if this is still available or not, I bought this copy in Road Records about a year or two ago but I’ve no leads whether Mero still runs this label or not! Anyone know? Anyway, download this for a bit of Irish hardcore education.
